Collection: Lady and the Tramp

Lady and the Tramp fan articles

If you're a real Disney fan, you'll roll your eyes in delight when it comes to these two dogs: Lady and the Tramp . In 1955, the film about the two four-legged friends was the first to make hearts beat faster and put a blissful smile on your face with good music and lots of love.

Who can remain untouched by the sweet opening scene, when, among other presents, there is also puppy Susi under the Christmas tree? The festive music and the gently falling snowflakes at the beginning of the film immediately put us in a nostalgic, touching mood that accompanies us throughout the rest of the cartoon. And how we were happy for little Susi when, after many attempts, she finally managed the difficult stairs in the house and was allowed to slip into the cozy bed with her master and mistress.

Lady and the Tramp touches the heart

Walt Disney's Lady and the Tramp has been touching the hearts of young and old for almost seventy years. We wondered with bated breath whether Susi would really have to sleep in the doghouse in the garden permanently after the birth of the baby, we were touched when she looked lovingly into the cradle of the new family member and wagged her tail. We felt so uneasy when the nasty aunt appeared on the scene with her naughty Siamese cats and things went downhill for the goldfish and bird of the house - and especially our Susi.

The dangerous chicken hunt, the dog kennel, the rat in the children's room! Nerds may be tough and not let any difficult task in gaming unsettle them, but during Susi's adventures we clenched our fists in concern on one or two occasions.

And how brilliant is The Tramp?

The stray who has been struggling through life on his own for many years and has been to every family in the neighborhood for a meal. And of course also in the city's upscale restaurants, where he organizes the legendary spaghetti dinner in the moonlight for himself and Susi. A dog like Tramp always knows a way out and easily outwits any dog catcher. But this also makes him a bit reckless and puts Susi in danger. And then she finds out about all of his love affairs in the kennel. We immediately start tapping our feet when Peggy the dog sings about Tramp's romances and her own love for him. As children, we only heard all of this in passing. Now, later, however, we completely understand Susi's indignation about Tramp's amorous adventures!

The numerous, lovable supporting characters from Lady and the Tramp are also unforgettable and give the film its very special charm. We love Lady's friends, the neighbor dogs Jock and Pluto, who not only look after her like big brothers but also eye her new admirer with particular suspicion, almost as much as the two main characters. When Pluto had his misfortune, even the toughest dog in front of the TV screen had "something in his eye". But we were able to laugh heartily at other parts: at the weird beaver in the zoo who lets himself be talked into using Susi's muzzle as an aid for his current construction project, and at the strict zookeeper who, after a trick by Tramp, attacks a somewhat eccentric visitor to the zoo with a raised stick. And if we are completely honest, the stuffy aunt's two Siamese cats with their ruthless attitude towards order and decency of all kinds are refreshing in their passion for chaos.

A true classic

The classic about the dog couple Lady and the Tramp even received a modern live-action film adaptation in 2019. Even if touching on this much-loved material borders on blasphemy for some long-time fans, the film received very good reviews overall - and at least reminded us how beautiful this story with the lovable four-legged friends is and that it's time to finally dig out the old video cassette again.

Although Lady and the Tramp is a film for children, we, as adults, are still passionate about this Disney evergreen and discover a new, wonderful detail every time. As a child, it was enough to keep nagging our parents to turn the film on again. Today, we are happy when we discover merchandise from our favorite films and the childhood heroes associated with them.

Here in the yvolve shop there is no singing Italian on the accordion or spaghetti with meatballs, but there is plenty of Lady and the Tramp merchandise that will put a smile on your face. We have been able to sing along to "Bella Notte" by heart for a long time anyway, so we don't need an Italian for that.
