The many melodies, the varied temples, the challenging puzzles, or for some, just the hunt for all the Gold Skulltulas. Ocarina of Time was a masterpiece. No one who has played it seriously speaks ill of this game, and if they do... we just skillfully ignore it—nobody is going to ruin our childhood, us nerds!
But The Legend of Zelda is, of course, not just this one game. Along with Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda is arguably THE most famous and popular game franchise of all time. Hardly anyone owns a Nintendo console without a The Legend of Zelda game. Whether it’s an old classic for the Nintendo Entertainment System from 1986 or the latest open-world installment, Breath of the Wild, every true gamer has played a The Legend of Zelda game at some point. And if not? Then take 4 weeks off and start catching up! Because Zelda has a lot to offer. With The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, Nintendo recently announced the 20th installment in the series, and that's just counting the main games.

Almost every entry in the series starts with you, the hero Link—or whatever you want to call him—donning the iconic green hero’s tunic during or after the prologue, and then the adventure can begin. In The Legend of Zelda, you experience a great story in a world that is usually very colorful, or sometimes very bleak, but always incredibly atmospheric. The core gameplay remains very similar in most of the main series, but always offers enough variety and ingenuity to constantly set new standards in the video game industry. It usually leads us through a wide variety of temples filled with great and creative puzzles and bosses. We often look back and remember our favorite temples. What The Legend of Zelda fan hasn't pondered with their buddies about which one was the most beautiful, the most challenging, or the most interesting temple?

There are surely some among us who don't like the game as much as the majority, but one thing is certain: with Breath of the Wild, Nintendo surprised everyone and completely reinvented the The Legend of Zelda franchise.
